Quickly, a restaurant!

So. You may have noticed that Doris has been doing most of the posting. Among other things, we were offered a chance to open a restaurant way back in March.  Although not currently a foodie topic, I assure you, it will be soon. Stay tuned for updates on The Farmer’s Daughter! The picture above shows the early demolition, which has involved removing SHOCKING amounts of debris. My favorite layer of this historical building was the wood paneling spackled with weird texture stuff and then carefully painted.  Truckloads of aging plaster have been hauled off in an effort to reveal the original brick walls. After days of removing nails and staples, we found treasure: yellow southern pine heartwood floors which we are now in the process of sanding and finishing. northview

On the right hand side of the floor here, you can begin to get an idea of the nail situation. It was serious. We struggled to find two square inches that were nail or staple free…luckily, there were only 6 layers of flooring to rip up, and then the nails. It kept morale very, very high indeed. southview

southarchAll the dirty work is done at this point–stay posted for more details and pictures…
